About Dancemeditation
Dancemeditation™ is a way to solace, stability, and quiet magic. It invites us to be fully present in our bodies. With gentle music, attention to our breathing and movement, eyes open or closed, we move beyond the surface worries into the present moment and inner stillness. We turn our attention inward—and experience embodied awareness. Our body has time to unwind and dream.

More About Spiritual Bellydance
The natural timeless movements of belly dance—an ancient, origin dance—are both grounding and deeply pleasurable. The fluttering and shaking, swirling and undulating resonate with the rhythms of Nature—trees filled with wind, rolling, undulating ocean waves, birds and animals moving over the earth, connecting us to the natural forces around us. When we include it in the Dancmeditation session, we can focus on encouraging each part of the body having its own voice. A shoulder softens away from the ribcage; the sternum floats; the hips remember their ancient intelligence. As we unhook long-held patterns of tension, what was stiff and silent begins to move, and our body awakens.

What We Will Do
Dunya will guide us in a period of relaxing, wordless instruction to focus and orient our attention, then suggest a simple, rich moving meditation to sink down a couple of notches inside the self, touching Self. There will be a generous, spacious period of time for participants to do their own exploratory intuitive movement, to digest and integrate meditative efforts.

What to Bring
Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing to move in and bring a thick yoga mat or blanket. Bring a sash to tie around your hips if you wish. (It helps to feel the movement.) Chairs are available in the space. If you have a veil, bring it.

About payments
It’s a donation to a nonprofit! Hurray! Our sponsoring organization, Dervish Society of America (DSA), is a 501-C3B designation which means that event payments are donations. (And nonrefundable.)
