You’re warmly invited to join us for a live taping 6pm at Falmouth Community Television (FCTV), where I’ll be improvising with the wonderful Eugenie Kuffler—an extraordinary vocalist and multi-instrumentalist.
In this new short work titled ‘Dry Rain’, Kuffler employs vocals, rain stick and piccolo to evoke moods and atmospheres. My double fan dance expands beyond the familiar “zook” sound and flamneco furls to explore a wider range of sound and movement imagery. It promises to be playful, surprising, and a lot of fun!

Paintings by Anne Tcherepnin with a Special Performance by Dunya McPherson
Transformations: Forms & Energies in Flux brings together the work of painter Anne Tcherepnin and choreographer/dancer Dunya McPherson in an exhibition exploring the dynamic forces of change in nature and human experience. While working in distinct artistic mediums, both artists share a deep interest in transformation, impermanence, and the subtle energies that shape the world around us.
On view throughout September and October in the UUFalmouth Atrium, 840 Sandwich Rd, Falmouth, MA 02536, Anne Tcherepnin’s expressive oil paintings capture shifting light, atmosphere, and movement through luminous landscapes and evocative studies of horses, birds, and the human figure. Her painterly, impressionistic approach reveals nature as a world in continual flux.
The Artist Reception will be held Sunday, September 6, from 12:00–1:15 p.m. and will feature an original performance by choreographer and dancer Dunya McPherson, whose live dance and projected dance films expand the exhibition’s themes into movement and moving image. Inspired by the exhibition’s exploration of transformation, the performance examines the interplay of stillness and motion, presence and absence, and the unseen energies that animate both landscape and body.
Following the performance, visitors are invited to join Anne Tcherepnin and Dunya McPherson for a conversation about their shared artistic influences, creative processes, and enduring interest in transformation across visual art and dance.
Transformations: Forms & Energies in Flux invites audiences to experience transformation as both an external phenomenon and an inner journey, where painting, movement, and projected image illuminate the ever-changing nature of life.
A Dialogue in Painting & Movement
Drawing on live dance and projected dance films, Dunya McPherson’s performance explores the dynamic interplay of stillness and motion, presence and absence, form and energy. Together, the artists reveal the invisible forces that animate both landscape and body, creating an immersive experience in which painting, movement, and projected image become a single expressive field.
About the Artists
Anne Tcherepnin is an expressive oil painter whose work explores the transformative qualities of light, atmosphere, and movement through landscapes, figures, birds, and horses. Working in a painterly, impressionistic style, she invites viewers to experience nature as a living presence in continual change.
Artist Statement: “Capturing the light is everything. It is always the light that I remember most about any location, figure, or still life. Its elusive quality transforms what we see, and I strive to convey that sense of place by capturing its fleeting magic.”
Dunya McPherson, BFA, MA, is a choreographer, performer, educator, author, and founder of Dancemeditation™. A graduate of The Juilliard School and a National Endowment for the Arts Choreography Fellow, her performances integrate movement, contemplative practice, and artistic inquiry. Drawing from the visceral language of Japanese Butoh, modern dance lineages, and the mystical movement traditions of Sufism, she creates performances of striking beauty, presence, and depth. For Transformations: Forms & Energies in Flux, live dance is interwoven with projected dance films created in natural and architectural landscapes, expanding the dialogue between body, image, and place.
